“It is with heavy hearts that we remember our friend and colleague, Carl Hackney. On behalf of his family and friends, we deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers.” 

 

Mr. Carl VanLandingham Hackney, age 59 of Lyons, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence after a sudden illness. Mr. Hackney was a native of Thomasville, living in Lyons the past eight years. Carl was a nursery salesman for the past 30 years and was employed at Wagon Hammock Nursery. He was a member of the Vidalia Moose Lodge #1281, where he was past prelate and currently served as Jr. Governor, and was also a member of the Coastal Plains Moose Legion #128. Carl was Presbyterian by Faith. 

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 2007. 

Carl is survived by his daughter, Katie Hackney of Savannah; his two brothers, Richard Hackney of Bloomingdale, and George Hackney of Quincy Fla.; his two sisters, Mary Carol McCall, and Marjorie Shaw, both of Thomasville; and his special friend, Essia Howell of Tarrytown. Seven nephews and one niece also survive. 

Memorial services for Carl will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel at 2 PM with Pastor Matt Stout officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1 PM. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vidalia Moose Lodge #1281, P.O. BOX 554, Vidalia, GA 30475 

Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
